Kayaking Jetty Island
Story + Photography by Sara Montour Lewis
On a sunny day in early March we decided to take a quick kayak trip around Jetty Island in Everett, Washington. This area is the perfect representation of how much Puget Sound sustains, from recreation to commercial industry to wildlife and beyond. This manmade island is now home to over 45 species of birds, seals and sea lions cruise the shoreline and grey whales often use Possession Sound as a feeding ground.
